the farmer's market

dearest basil plant,

can we be together forever in making dinner delicious?

sunday i went to the dupont circle farmer's market. i got this wee basil plant, which i'm sure will outgrow dominic, as well as some asparagus, goat cheese and mushroooooooooms. i decided to get the "mushroom mix" because it reminded me of a goodie bag, but i had to spend about 30 minutes googling what types came in my bag (hen of the woods, chanterelles, crimini, black trumpets, bearded tooth and these tiny little white ones that you always find in the grass after it rains.
anyways, here is a map from the washington post of farmer's markets in dc and the area. they are a lot of fun because people are super nice and dogs seem to hang out there.

  1. And of course everything's local!! It's just so important to think globally but act locally. That's why I don't bathe in anything but sewage treatment plants or eat anything that casts a shadow.
